Sustainability at the pump: how green do petrol station customers want to be?

Petrol stations have long been more than just places to refuel – especially for convenience shoppers. The question of how sustainable to-go offers in the forecourt shop should be is becoming ever more important.

The B&G Shopper-Monitor 2023 provides interesting insights here:

Awareness of sustainability and the willingness to actually use reusable cups and packaging are consistently high. 

But sustainability is not only a question of packaging! Does a product come from the region? Is it organic or even vegan? These questions are becoming more important – especially when addressing Generation Z. Vegan options are still rare in many petrol stations, but demand is rising. 

So for petrol station operators the motto is „do good and talk about it“, in other words: offer sustainable ranges and communicate them clearly!
